The Saint John's Bible: A Bible for the 21st Century
Mar 15 4:00 PM - Mar 15 5:00 PM
A timeless work of sacred art…a legacy to inspire future generations
A presentation by David Allaway
Director of the Heritage Program at Saint John’s University
The Saint John’s Bible is the first handwritten, illuminated Bible commissioned by a Benedictine Abbey over in 500 years. It took six scribes, six artists, and a team of scholars, all working under the direction of Donald Jackson, Senior Scribe to Queen Elizabeth II, 15 years to complete.
Saint John’s University has created the Heritage Edition, a very high quality facsimile manuscript. A volume from the Heritage Edition, Gospels & Acts, will be on display before and after the presentation.
