A talk by Herbert Wollowick
Dr. Herbert Wollowick is a major private collector of Haggadot, and has amassed one of the world’s largest collections. He is recognized specialist in the publishing history of this Passover text which has been distributed around the world in manuscript and print for over 800 years. Dr. Wollowick’s collection is particularly rich in unusual versions of the Haggadah, including hundreds of rarely retained commercial publications from the early to mid-20th century.
He will provide an overview of the history of the Haggadah together with examples showing how the publication of this text has mirrored the circumstances of the Jewish people. Special materials from his personal collection will be on display.
