Politicizing Religion and the Politics of Religion
Mar 21 6:00 PM - Mar 21 7:00 PM
Politicizing religion in the U.S. has resulted in the rise of religious intolerance and discrimination against religious minorities and politicians have made religion into an instrument by which to mobilize voters. The Center for Global Islamic Studies and the Bob Graham Center for Public Service will host a panel discussion at 6 p.m. on March 21 in the Pugh Hall Ocora, which will examine the role of religion in politics and how the politicizing of religion in our country has resulted in significant public discord. A panel of University of Florida faculty members will address this important issue and offer solutions on how we might prevent religion from becoming a source of such political polarization.
The event is free and open to the public. It will be streamed live at www.bobgrahamcenter.ufl.edu.
