Complete Description: | |
| The Gainesville Society of the Archaeological Insititute of America and UF College of Fine Arts presents the Wari and Tiwanaku. The Wari Tiwanaku are two ancient Andean imperial empires who reigned from roughly AD 600–1100 (or 600–1100 CE). Sometime early in their history both early states established colonies in the Moquegua region of southern Peru. This illustrated lecture examines how wild and domesticated animals and animal products were used to create social identity and distinction. | |
